. Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario v. Ontario Association of Architects

In Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario v. Ontario Association of Architects (Ont CA, 2026) the Ontario Court of Appeal allowed an appeal, this brought against a "contempt of a court order issued on consent of the parties .... which prohibited the OAA from issuing licences based either on an administrative policy that had been adopted by the OAA ... or a similar policy not set out in regulation".

The court considered 'reputation', here in an unusual regulatory organization context:
[65] Reputation plays a central role in human societies, and it is well established that “reputation is one of the most valuable assets a person or a business can possess”: 1704604 Ontario Ltd. v. Pointes Protection Association, 2020 SCC 22, [2020] 2 S.C.R. 587, at para. 69. Reputation is equally important to regulatory organizations such as the OAA, whose effectiveness ultimately depends upon public confidence that it is acting in the public interest.
