Landlord and Tenant (L&T) law has been of long-standing in the British common law system, indeed some would say that it is the basis of that system. There is today in Ontario a Commercial Tenancies Act which embodies the residue of this, but for the most part the field has merged with modern contract law. It's the residential version of landlord and tenant law which has shown remarkable growth over the past 30 years.
