Statutory Interpretation - "Attached"

. MacKenzie et al. v. Township of The Archipelago

In MacKenzie et al. v. Township of The Archipelago (Ont Div Ct, 2026) the Ontario Divisional Court considered the statutory interpretation meaning of 'attached':
[53] The Oxford English Dictionary defines “attached” as joined or physically connected and “detached” as disconnected or separated. Merriam-Webster similarly defines “attached” as connected or joined to something, and “detached” as separate, unconnected, or standing by itself.

[54] These are the common uses and understandings of “attached” and “detached” as adjectives. These definitions are not contrary to the By-Law, nor are they somehow out of line with the Official Plan.
